Moira Mukuka, the First and Only Zambian Firm to be Recognised As a Recommended Firm in the Green Guide for Strides in ESG, Sustainability Climate Change and Governance

Moira Mukuka Legal Practitioners has been recognised in the Legal 500 EMEA Green Guide 2024 as one of the top law firms advising on issues around climate change, governance, and sustainability.  The Green Guide highlights leading practices and individuals in each jurisdiction, recognising a firm’s contribution to ‘Green Change’ and ESG, as well as their own sustainability initiatives.

This is a major milestone as Moira Mukuka is the first and only Zambian law firm to be recognised as a Recommended Firm in the Legal 500 Green Guide. Partner, Sharon Sakuwaha and Senior Associate, Mumbi Mulenga, have been recognised by the Green Guide for their contribution to the firm’s sustainability work as Green Ambassadors.

The firm has worked on groundbreaking matters such as the CEC Renewables USD 200 million Green Bond Programme for the issuance of Zambia’s first green bond. Other key matters the firm has worked on include:

  • Advising Export Trading Group (ETG) in relation to the establishment of a carbon project in Western Province of Zambia, developed under ETG’s African Emerging Farmer Carbon Abatement Programme (AEFCAP).
  • Advising EcoSecurities in the development of a forest carbon project in the North Western Province of Zambia.
  • Advising Lusanje on the development of a 25MW solar power plant in the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone.
